The International Committee against Stoning needs your financial help |
|
Dear friends, Our struggle against the suppression of women in Islamist countries has been going on for many years. The establishment of the International Committee against Stoning is an attempt to form a worldwide network to stop such barbaric acts in the Islamist countries. I, myself, have been active in the struggle for women’s rights for over 20 years, and our colleagues from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan etc, have also been trying hard to raise the voice of women in these countries and spread awareness all around the world. These activists are people, who have fled Islamist countries. Some of them have spent years in the jails of anti-women governments; many have lost their close friends, brothers, sisters, and colleagues, etc. under torture or by execution. They have witnessed and felt the suppression of women with all their senses and are determined to put an end to it. The activists of this campaign across the USA, Europe, Scandinavia, Canada, Australia as well as Iraq, Afghanistan and Turkey are currently organising effective actions alongside women’s and human rights’ organisations. Undoubtedly the huge amount of activities that are currently taking place, together with our attempts to escalate them further, are costly and require a large budget. To date, all of the expenses - including the costs of meetings, travels, pickets, demonstrations, telephone, fax, translations, and contacting threatened families, printing and distributing our publications, etc. have all been paid for by individual activists and friends who closely share our aims. A small amount has also been donated by some women’s organisations. We have received an extensive international response so far, but in order to continue at the same pace and to be able to escalate and develop the committee’s activities, we need to improve the existing financial situation. I would like to ask you and everyone who sympathises with us to help the committee. Please donate whatever you can afford; introduce the committee and its activities to those organisations and bodies that provide financial assistance to non-governmental organisations like us, and persuade them to aid us. Sincerely, Mina Ahadi Konto Post bank – Koln – Germany Mina Ahadi Againt stoning |
