The
future of women’s equality seeking movement in the Middle East 31 October

| The 3rd Medusa Conference will be held during Friday 31st October to Sunday 2nd November in Stockholm, Sweden. The Conference will discuss the status of women’s liberation movement in the Middle East vis-à-vis political Islam, with a special focus on Iran and Iraq. The Conference will pay particular attention to the role of political Islam in the suppression of women and the perpetuation of brutal anti-women practices in the region, the position of secularism, and the role of Worker-communist movement in confronting political Islam. Renowned women’s rights and human rights activists, writers, politicians and journalists are among the Conference speakers. The first day of the conference will be in English and Swedish, the second and third days in Farsi with some Arabic speakers. Speakers of the first day in order of making speeches are as follows:

women’s right activist and Co-ordinator of the International Committee

Kaboli, Co-ordinator of the International Campaign for the Defence of
Women’s Rights in Iran Nadia
Mahmoud, Co-founder of OWFI and Co-ordinator of the Middle East Centre
